A 9-Year-Old Living in a Fentanyl Tent — And the System Says It’s “Fine”
This is not a story about homelessness.
This is a story about fentanyl — and what happens when a child is trapped in its orbit.
In a public park just off Aurora Avenue in North Seattle, neighbors say a 9-year-old boy has been living in a tent with his parents for months. They report drug use, prostitution, neglect, and long periods where the child is left alone — sometimes overnight, sometimes for days.
Police have been called. CPS has been notified. Outreach workers have offered immediate shelter: a private room, a private bathroom, available the same day. The parents said no.
Under Washington law, authorities say their hands are tied.
