KIRO Cold Case: Ashley Michael Mendiaz Called 911 Before He Died
Nearly 24 years after Ashley Michael Mendiaz was murdered inside his Tukwila home, his family is still searching for answers.
The 25-year-old military veteran managed to call 911 himself after being shot during what investigators initially believed was a home invasion robbery. Police later suspected the killing may have been connected to marijuana and believed Ashley likely knew the attackers.
Despite years of tips and investigation, no arrests have been made. Now, his mother and Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound hope renewed attention to the case will finally convince someone to come forward.
