Two people airlifted in 11-hour rescue operation after car plunged 250 feet off cliff

Two men are in critical condition after an overnight cliffside rescue in the mountains above Wilkeson, prompted by an iPhone Crash Detection SOS alert that notified first responders late Thursday night.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office, the emergency alert was received at approximately 10:21 p.m. on June 25, indicating a serious crash in a remote area off Forest Service Road NF110 near T-Rex Falls, about 12 miles up a rugged mountain road from Wilkeson.
