Seattle Is the Only World Cup City With Their Cameras Off!?

The World Cup arrives in Seattle on June 15. Vancouver installed roughly 200 temporary CCTV cameras around BC Place and turned them on. Toronto is running 360-degree CCTV with AI analytics. Every Canadian, Mexican, and American host city activated its surveillance posture for the games.

Seattle is the outlier. Mayor Katie Wilson ordered the new Stadium District cameras installed but kept dark unless a "credible threat" emerges. Charlie Harger walks through the three scenarios that follow from that decision — and why none of them end well.
