Youthful dreams don’t turn out how you expect in ‘Whiplash’

“Whiplash,” nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, is about a young man who wants to be the drummer of a competitive jazz band in a New York City conservatory, meant to be a fictional Julliard.
JK Simmons is also nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Michael Medved thinks he’ll win.
