By a remarkable coincidence, Trump will announce Supreme Court pick today

President Donald Trump fired the acting Attorney General Sally Yates for refusing to defend his extreme vetting and suddenly the world is focused on us.

“President Trump is standing firm with his message that the ban protects America from what he called ‘bad dudes,'” a BBC reporter said.

Nobody can read a Trump tweet like the BBC.

But here at home, there were some conservative defections, not so much about the substance of the policy, but on the way it was carried out.

Former FBI Agent and Republican Congressman Mike Rogers was on CNN to discuss the policy.

“The last couple of days has been like watching an octopus put its socks on in the morning. A little bit confusing,” he said.

Also on CNN, former Director of the Richard Nixon Library, historian Timothy Naftali.

“A competent president would have waited for his own Attorney General to be confirmed to have a team to defend this,” he said.

But I know you’re saying Dave get off CNN, go over to Fox. So I did, just in time for Sean Hannity’s concluding analysis.

“Sorry Chuck Schumer, it’s not a Monday night massacre, it’s a Monday night Trump beat down,” he was saying.

No surprise there.

But then a shock. Conservative Charles Krauthammer was saying, he favors Trump’s extreme vetting policy, but, “what you have to have is a policy that you vet, loose it on the world in the most amateurish, botched way …” he said.

Well, fortunately, by the most remarkable coincidence, Mr. Trump will officially announce his Supreme Court pick Tuesday night. And as we all fly to that flame, yesterday will disappear!

When does a protest cross the line? I can answer that. When it devolves into violence, obviously it crosses a line.

I don’t think the question is whether we're going to "kill" our car culture. The real question is can we stop our car culture from killing the U.S.?
