Eatonville teen who allegedly kept kill lists had access to guns

A 13-year-old Pierce County boy kept a list of names of students he wanted to kill in a notebook, and students who he would not kill, according to court documents. There were at least 10 names on the 'kill list.'

Those documents show the eighth grader also had a list of names of people outside school he'd kill, and a list of people he'd leave alone.

Other boys knew about the teen's notebook, but he didn't get into trouble until until his "today's kill list" ended up in the recycle bin and a principal at Eatonville Middle School found it.

The boy, whom I'm not naming because he is a minor, was taken out of class last Friday, expelled from school and placed in juvenile detention.

Police records indicate the 13-year-old had access to weapons he used for hunting.

Two pictures posted on his Facebook page show him wearing camouflage clothing and posing with handguns. One shows him camping, with his hand resting on a gun in a waist-band holster. In the other, he's holding the weapon with both hands close to his face. Both were added last fall.

A third publicly-posted photo shows his creativity with a helicopter drawn on the ceiling of a bedroom with the ceiling fan acting as the propeller.

Two impressions of the boy came out in a hearing earlier this week. According to court documents, other students report hearing the teen said, "I'm going to kill you" or "You're on my kill list."

His family claims he has never been in trouble before and is not a threat. They urged a judge to release him from juvenile detention and promised to keep an eye on him 24/7, but the judge did not allow that.

Investigators will evaluate him, and will consider his release again during a hearing Thursday.

The Eatonville school district is planning a meeting for Feb. 19 at the high school to review school safety policies. That meeting, with police, was planned before the boy's alleged kill lists were discovered.

    just thoughts
but someone had to have taken this picture, If it was a guardian or other adult who is responsible, and taking responsibilities for this kid when in possesion of the fire arm then I see no problem with these pictures or the few facts that can be obtained by these pictures. I have a 7 year old son, for his birthday I purchased his first rifle. He is actually a remarkable shot and I am proud of that. I am even prouder at his etiquette and respect he has allowed me to train him with. However, NONE of my guns are within his ability to access whithout my say so. Not even the ones around the house for quick access for the just in cases events. As a father if i were to find him with a list like this you can bet that I would have understanding that many of us who may wish to deny it have had these thoughts in our life, but would do my due diligence and seek help before allowing him to access a firearm.

It is not "just thoughts" when they put the death threats on paper
or on a facebook page. This is why we can't get a handle on mental health issues ...to many people in denial.

Your absolutely correct, Many forget that remote towns like eatonville Camo, hunting apparel, and guns are common place in that society. This is nothing new. Questions should be asked not addressed I believe are 1) did he really have full access to guns if he were to go crazy, or does he occasionally have access via an adult when he wants to go shooting? 2) Why was the list in the recycle? Face it, although not all of us write them down all of us have people we would rather see fall off the face of the earth. 3) what was his true intent, was it his way of dealing? - This should be looked at in this case and similar cases, and if it's just a poor choice in wording maybe some help in finding more constructive ways to deal with people he doesn't like instead of expulsion and demonization. 4) His demographic really eliminates most of the stories teeth. like stated above he is in a remote town where guns and camo are common place. Would this really be a news worthy story if he didn't have pictures of him with guns?

    agreed
Totally agree! living in remote areas this is so common that is makes me laugh that they are blowing it up so bad. i think what people need to pray about is that he gets the help he needs. Obviously he is depressed, confused and bullying does that to teens. i am not condoning his actions; only praying this can get him the help he requires. Like you said; a better more constructive way to work through his emotions.

    NAME THIS SOCIOPATH!
Kids such as this need to be "outed"! Screw their confidentiality! And the parents that give them access to firearms! There needs to be some community notification and parental accountability!

    The REAL problem
is that we live in a culture that has largely rejected basic traditional values and morality, and replaced them with one of entitlement, instant gratification and instant celebrity. There have always been angry and broken losers looking to leave a mark on the world. The Lincoln and JFK assassinations are but two. But ever since Columbine, mass shootings seem to happen more and more often. Guns aren't the real issue; they have been available during our entire history as a country. The issue is the increasing number of damaged people deciding that killing as many others as possible is the answer to their problems!
