Behind enemy lines: Denver reporter says Seahawks can’t stop Broncos

While our focus has been mostly on the Seahawks leading up to the Super Bowl, what are they saying in Denver? Suffice it to say they’re plenty confident their high powered offense will be more than enough to stifle the Seahawks.
Every week, Tom and Curley go behind enemy lines for the view from the other side. And this week they found a pretty cocky guy from Denver who says Seattle’s offense is, well, offensive.
“They move the ball okay but they haven’t been able to produce points like they did early in the year,” says Darren McKee from 104.3 The Fan in Denver.
Tom argues we don’t need to score a ton of points because our defense is so good. He predicts the Seahawks will hold Peyton Manning and company to just two touchdowns and two field goals.
“A team that scores 38 points a game?!” asks an incredulous McKee. “A team that is the number one team in red zone scoring touchdowns. A team that has the most touchdowns period. A team that has five guys in double digits for touchdowns is only going to score two touchdowns and two field goals?”
It is kind of scary, even with the Legion of Boom in our back pocket. After all, the Broncos score over 60 percent of the time they possess the ball. McKee is confident Denver will put at least 27 points on the board.
But we’ve got Beast Mode. You’d figure that would scare the Broncos. But McKee is quick to point out Denver’s run defense is pretty darned good as well.
“They shut down every major running back in the NFL. They’re one of the best run stopping defenses in the NFL,” McKee says
The biggest concern for the Denver faithful is protecting Peyton Manning. The guy isn’t exactly the fleetest of foot.
“Depend on how well the Seahawks can cheat holding the Broncos receivers at the line,” says the snarker.
While most of the talk this week has been about Richard Sherman, Marshawn Lynch and the like, McKee says the biggest concern is defensive end Michael Bennett, a big but speedy guy who can devastate opposing quarterbacks.
“The one guy they can’t really control, they don’t know what to expect of is Michael Bennett. And guess who Michael Bennett thinks is great? Michael Bennett.”
Still, the guy is oozing confidence, as are most of the Denver faithful. He predicts a 34-19 Broncos beatdown.
“The bottom line for everybody playing against the Broncos is, no matter what you do, how are you going to score more points than this offense?…we’re already planning the parade in Denver.”
It’s pretty much what you’d expect from someone who finds orange an attractive color. It should be fun to hear him eat his words next week.
