Firefighters were on-scene at a “fully involved” house fire in the 4500 block of 9th Avenue Northeast in Seattle’s University District early Wednesday morning.

According to KIRO 7 TV, the house was abandoned, and fully engulfed in flames at the fire’s peak.

Seattle fire responders were engaged in a defensive fire attack, typically used in blazes where the structure is considered unsafe to enter.

Just after 6 a.m., Seattle FD reported that it had suppressed the main portion of the fire, and not long after that, announced that it was fully under control.

KIRO 7’s Rachel Calderon reports that the house was scheduled for demolition, and that it’s believed no one was inside at the time of the fire. No firefighters were injured.

Investigators are on-scene, and will look to determine the cause of the blaze.

Seattle FD is warning residents in the area to keep windows and doors closed to avoid smoke exposure.

This is a developing story — stay tuned for more details.
