The co-owner of Jet Chevrolet in Federal Way says his heart dropped when he realized the Seahawks were going to achieve a shutout win against the Giants on Sunday.
The dealership sponsored a raffle with a dozen $35,000 winners if Seattle shut out New York in Sunday’s game.
Jet Chevrolet co-owner Jim Johnson tells KIRO Radio’s Tom and Curley Show it’s what they wanted, but the thought they now owed 12 people $35,000 sent goosebumps up his spine.
“When something like this happens, you just hope everything is in line with insurance,” says Johnson, “so far, so good.”
Johnson explains they bought insurance to cover the contest winners through Hole-In-One Insurance International.
“This is the biggest thing we’ve ever done by far,” says Johnson. “We gave a few cars away and some other prizes but nothing ever of this magnitude.”
Thirteen lucky car buyers and 12 walk-ins will be eligible to win the prize when the raffle happens on Monday.
“Anybody that bought a car from Wednesday to Saturday night, close of business, gets 100 entries. And any person that walked in and filled out an entry card got one entry,” says Johnson. “Here this (Monday) afternoon we’re going to do a drawing and 12 lucky people are going to have a pretty nice Christmas.”
The dealership expects to give $420,000 to the raffle winners, thanks to the Seahawks’ stingy defense.
