Sources: Teen gunman sent message to parents moments before Marysville shooting

The teen gunman who opened fire at Marysville-Pilchuck High School Friday sent a message to his parents just moments before the shooting, Q13 reports.
“The actual quote to me was moments, so I don’t know if it was minutes or seconds,” Q13’s David Rose told KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson in an interview Tuesday.
The sources did not disclose the contents of the message, or whether it was a text or email. But there are indications Jaylen Fryberg, 15, told his parents what he planned and what he wanted done with his body, Rose said.
“I’m told there wasn’t enough time for the parents to take any action. Now that’s according to my law enforcement sources,” Rose said.
Rose also confirmed Fryberg sent a picture of himself posing with a gun to a teen girl before the shooting, but sources are not saying whether it was one of the girl’s he shot in the cafeteria or an ex-girlfriend. There is no word whether it was the same gun used in the shooting.
The shooting killed 14-year-old Gia Soriano and 14-year-old Zoe Galasso.
Three other victims remain hospitalized. Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, 14, is at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett in critical condition with a head wound. Andrew Fryberg, 15, is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center. Nate Hatch, 14, is in satisfactory condition at Harborview.
Marysville School District Superintendent Becky Berg and Mayor Jon Nehring hosted a parent meeting Tuesday evening.
Berg tells KIRO Radio the cafeteria at Marysville-Pilchuck High School where the shooting took place will remain closed when school reopens next week.
“The kids are saying loud and clear they don’t want to go back there to the old cafeteria,” she says.
Berg says the lunchroom may be remodeled, but it will take some time.
