A van exploded at the Home Depot parking on South Hill Puyallup on Wednesday afternoon. The fire has since been extinguished. One person was taken to the hospital with minor burns, and a pet was found dead. No other injuries were reported.

“The fire in the van started, and then we believe a propane tank exploded,” said Captain Darrin Shaw with Central Pierce Fire & Rescue.

There’s been no report, as of yet, on how the initial fire was sparked, but the Central Pierce Fire marshal is investigating.

This is a developing story.
