$113.40 in Copper, $180,000 in Damage & 40 Warrants
At 6 a.m. Christmas morning in Kent, security cameras recorded two people arriving at an Eagle Beverage warehouse with bolt cutters and a powered hacksaw. They stripped the copper cables from the commercial generator that keeps the business running. The copper sold for $113.40. The Kent business — a plastic cutlery maker for regional McDonald's locations — has lost more than $180,000 across two similar thefts.
The receipt was on the suspect's floorboard with his own license plate written on it. Gary Lewis Witherbee has 40 bench warrants. He was supposed to be arraigned this morning. He didn't show. Charlie Harger on the one law change that would fix this.
