Video sent to KIRO Newsradio by We Heart Seattle founder Andrea Suarez shows piles of stripped wire insulation and stacks of stolen propane tanks recovered during encampment cleanups. The copper and brass have already been sold to recyclers. No questions asked.
Meanwhile, a bill in Olympia that would have required scrap metal dealers to photograph materials, upload transactions to a database, and hold items for investigation just died — without ever getting a vote.
