Eastbound I-90 HOV Lane Coming Back After Years
Eastbound I-90 drivers in Factoria are close to getting their HOV lane back. The lane has been closed for several years while WSDOT tackled one of its most complex fish passage projects ever—replacing an old concrete culvert more than 50 feet below the freeway that was restricting fish passage in Sunset Creek.
Nearly all the work above the creek is done. The eastbound HOV lane is expected to reopen before the end of the year. Remaining work includes electrical and ITS systems, guardrail striping, cleanup, and planting. The full project could wrap up by early 2027, potentially months ahead of the original schedule that had work running through next summer.
