The Most Dangerous Thing Drivers Do Near SEA Airport
The illegal parking on the airport expressway into SEA from SR 518 is one of the most dangerous things happening on our roads—and nobody can seem to stop it.
Drivers routinely park on the shoulder while waiting to pick up passengers, then pull out into traffic going 60 mph. There's a cell phone lot right up the road, but drivers just don't use it. The Port of Seattle's Perry Cooper says they've written as many as 100 tickets a day and it still hasn't changed behavior. WSP rolls through multiple times a day writing tickets and clearing cars, and drivers just pull away or come right back. The most common excuse? "I saw everybody else doing it, so I figured it was OK."
