New Kingston Ferry Rule Is Catching Drivers Off Guard

If you're heading to the Sequim Lavender Festival this weekend—or catching the Kingston ferry for any reason—there's one change you need to know about, or your trip home could turn into a nightmare.

WSDOT now requires drivers to stop at a ticket kiosk about a mile west of the Kingston toll booth before getting in line for the ferry. Show up at the booth without a ticket, and you'll be turned away. That's exactly what happened to a listener named Raymond last weekend—he ended up detouring through Bremerton and Tacoma to get back to Snohomish.
