New WA Gas Tax Hike Hits Tomorrow—Here's What You'll Pay
Washington drivers are getting hit with two big changes starting July 1. The state gas tax climbs another 1.1 cents to $0.565/gallon, part of a new annual increase tied to inflation passed in the 2025 transportation package. That keeps Washington among the highest gas-taxed states in the country, with average prices at $5.19/gallon compared to the $3.86 national average.
At the same time, the grace period for work zone speed cameras is over. First-time violations now cost $125, and second offenses run $248. In under 15 months, these cameras have already caught more than 85,000 speeders. The program is expanding statewide, with the number of mobile cameras tripling by next year.
